Ferozepur–Patti New Railway Line will boost Punjab’s Economy : MP Vikram Sahney

Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from Punjab, has warmly welcomed the approval of the Ferozepur–Patti New Railway Line Project announced by Minister of State for Railways Sh. Ravneet Singh Bittu. Dr. Sahney had been consistently pursuing this project with the Railway Ministry for several years. “

Dr. Sahney informed that he had personally taken up this issue multiple times with Railway Ministers Sh. Ashwini Vaishnaw and Sh. Ravneet Singh Bittu, and he is delighted that the Government has finally approved this long-awaited rail link. This project will boost Punjab’s economy at a larger scale.

Dr. Sahney stated that the new 25 km railway line between Ferozepur and Patti, with an estimated cost of ₹764 crore, will be a game-changer for Punjab’s connectivity and economy. This new corridor will drastically reduce the distance from Amritsar to Kandla and Mundra ports by 240 km, saving nearly 12 hours in travel time and significantly reducing freight costs for export industries.

Highlighting the agricultural benefits, Dr. Sahney said that This project will enable our farmers to transport their perishable goods — vegetables, fruits, and dairy products — swiftly to the western seaports for exports and domestic markets in Gujarat and Maharashtra, improving their incomes and reducing wastage. Such infrastructure growth directly empowers the rural economy and uplifts lives at the grassroots.
